Ville Lehtinen's paintings could be described as popart, but there are signs of expressionism in the way he paints. Strong contrasts in values and colors are typical for his paintings. Lehtinen thinks that shapes, lights and shadows are more important than the subjects of his work. The subject of a painting can be almost anything as long as it has interesting values and shapes to build an image on. The color palette that Lehtinen uses is very limited and carefully considered, usually only a combination of two complimentary colors. The most interesting and frequently used color combination for him is magenta and blue. Lehtinen paints with acrylics and oils.
